What is a rider?
A rider is a short document attached to a contract that lists what a performer or artisan needs to present their work: travel, accommodation, stage, equipment, materials, meals and rest time. A clear rider protects both the practitioner and the presenter.
What goes into a rider
Travel class and luggage allowance; accommodation standard; local transport; stage size, sound and light; materials or tools for demonstrations; meals and dietary needs; rehearsal and rest time; and the names of accompanying people.
Pricing a tour
Start from a daily fee at or above our published minimum, then add travel days at half rate, per diems, and preparation time. Never absorb visa or insurance costs yourself.
Visas and permits
Allow at least eight weeks. The presenter should provide an invitation letter, contract and proof of accommodation. Our mobility desk can help on funded projects.
Insurance
Ask the presenter to cover public liability and your instruments or work in transit. Personal travel insurance should be in the budget, not your pocket.
Contracts
Sign before you travel. Check fee, payment date (we recommend within 30 days), cancellation terms, credit wording and recording rights.
